Plagiarism Policy
Plagiarism includes copying or reusing text, ideas, images or data from other sources without clear reference. Any form of plagiarism at any stage of peer-review, publication, or post-publication is unacceptable and can lead to withdrawal of submission from the journal system and peer review process. MENA Journal of Case Reports uses iThenticate to screen submitted content for originality before publication. Any issues detected by the software will be addressed by a follow-up investigation after informing the author and failure by the authors to correct the plagiarized content will lead to rejection of the manuscript.
Since the journal is focused primarily on early career and graduate/undergraduate students, medical doctors and individuals working in the field of medicine, we know that “accidental plagiarism” can occur unintentionally. We, as publishers, provide Accidental Plagiarism Review Service to avoid flagging the manuscript by the journal system.
AI and AI-assisted scientific writing misconduct
AI generated work and use of AI-assisted technologies to produce text for publication is not acceptable. If AI has been used, it is the responsibility of the authors to disclose the use of AI and AI-assisted technology in the writing process in the Declarations section at the end of the manuscript by following the instructions below:
AI-Assisted Work Statement: During the preparation of this work, author(s) used the [name tool/service] for [reason]. After using the tool/service, author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and take(s) full responsibility for the content of the publication.
A violation of this policy will be considered as scientific misconduct and will lead to rejection and retraction of manuscript from the Journal website. However, details on retraction/rejection will be retained on the website for transparency.
Please note that authors are allowed to use AI technologies to improve readability and language. In that case, it is not considered as misconduct and there is no need to add a statement.
